Til Chikki

Til Chikki
(Til Patti/Sesame Seeds Crackers/Sesame seeds brittle)


Til Chikki is a crispy, crunchy and delicious Indian sweet mostly made during winters and
Makar Sankranti. Makar Sankranti is also known as " Til Sankranti". Distributing sweets made of Til on Makar Sankranti is a ritual. Til chikki is a very nutritious sweet because til is very good source of Iron. Til Chikki is very easy and quick to prepare.Til and sugar are the two main ingredients used in this recipe.



Til Chikki


Ingredients:


1 cup til (sesame seeds)
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp ghee


Method:


1. Dry roast til (sesame seeds) till it changes the color.

2. Allow it to cool.

3. Grease a plate with some ghee to set the chikki.

4. Make a coarse powder of til.

5.Take a heavy bottom pan, add ghee. Now add sugar.

6. When sugar melts completely, turn off the flame, add roasted sesame
    seeds powder,
 mix well.

7. Transfer this mixture in greased plate, roll it thinly with greased the
     rolling pin.

8. Make cuts over it with a knife and allow it to cool.

9. Til Chikki is ready to serve.

Tips:

1. You can use jaggery in place of sugar.

2. Dry fruits like cardamom, cashew nut, almond, saffron 
     can also be used.
